Exit the baggage claim and go directly to the train station. There's an information desk outside baggage claim in case it's not clear how to get to the train station. You should see this symbol for the train company:
You can check the schedule of the trains from Geneva Airport to Lausanne from this website: http://www.sbb.ch/
Once you get to the train station, you can get your ticket from a kiosk (or go to a ticket booth "guichet"). It should accept credit cards. It's 25CHF one way from Geneva Airport to Lausanne Gare. The direct train ride is between 45 mins to an hour. [Note that Geneva and Geneva Airport stations are different: Geneva station is for the city center].
Make sure to get out of the "Lausanne Gare" station.
Right across the street is a McDonalds, and right next to it is the Metro station M2.
There's a kiosk right outside of McDonalds to get a metro ticket.
Buy a ticket to Riponne (or sometimes referred to as Riponne - Maurice Bejart). The metro schedule can be accessed here: http://www.t-l.ch/images/pdf/10/brochure10/m2_a.pdf It's only 2 stops.
Alternatively, if you are not carrying too much stuff and up for a 20-min walk, you can follow this link or this map:

FYI: it's very hilly in Lausanne :)
If you do decide to take the M2 Metro, you will get out of Place de la Riponne. There's a fountain in the middle of this Plaza. You will want to turn towards the street and cross over.
Walk towards the intersection where you will see a church (Basillica de Notre Dame). Rue du Valentin is along there.
Walk up the hill on Rue du Valentin. The appartment is right by the rotary 3.5 minutes from Place de la Riponne. Here's a pic of our apartment complex. I've circled in red the entrance to our building and you can actually see the window in my room facing the street next to the building entrance.
Press the call button for BELOTTINI. And you're there!
Time to enjoy Lausanne!
